With only 48 hours between legs, the stopovers were short and intense. Boats had to turn around quickly for VIP outings and prepare for the next departure, leaving little time for in-depth adjustments. In this high-pressure environment, reliability is everything and C-Tech’s products delivered. Apart from one broken CTFLX on Holcim, all battens and hardware required zero attention throughout the fleet.
Feedback from the sailors and team representatives was clear: if battens aren’t broken, they’re doing their job. Over the course of this demanding 5-week race, the teams face back-to-back legs so short and intense they feel more like a Sydney to Hobart every three days than a traditional ocean leg. With limited time to make changes, crews are prioritising robust, all-round setups they can trust.
Biotherm continued their strong performance, securing maximum bonus points at the scoring gate near Monaco.
Both Nathan and Carlos from C-Tech were present during the stopovers. Nathan was on site in Alicante, where he had the chance to connect with sailors and industry contacts, while Carlos joined in Cartagena, walking the docks and speaking directly with teams. The feedback on C-Tech battens and hardware was consistently positive.
In addition to his time at the race village, Carlos also visited Navantia’s S-80 submarine series production facility in Cartagena a fascinating opportunity to see another side of advanced composite engineering.
With The Ocean Race Europe continuing at full pace, C-Tech is proud to support the teams with equipment they can rely on in such a demanding and fast-moving series.
